Freedom in Canada

Family

To play, run, learn, and grow, without fear in Canada.

Imagine the joy of a family reuniting

“As people of faith, we are called by the gospel to ‘welcome the stranger’ in our midst... from coast to coast to coast, Anglican parishes ‘welcome the stranger’ through Private Sponsorship Agreements and advocacy for the rights and hopes of refugees.
I am very proud of your commitment to this ministry.
It is a powerful witness to the law of Moses, the call of the prophets and the teaching of Jesus.”
The Most Reverend Fred Hiltz, Primate

Our Family ...

My name is Adeel and I would like to tell you about my family.

My Mom (Aisha) and Dad (Abbas) have eight children - five boys and three girls.
The family home (small farm near Aleppo, Syria) was destroyed in the war.  We all escaped to Turkiye.

Four of the brothers are now in Canada with their own families.

All the others are still refugees in Turkiye - since 2012.  We wish to be reunited in Canada.

The recent earthquakes in Turkiye destroyed their home in Gaziantep.   They are living in their own tents in a field - without government /international aid.

Please help us bring my parents, my brother and sisters and their families to Canada.
Sincerely,
Adeel

Our Family History

The War in Syria

2012

Difficult to live and work near Aleppo.
Some family members fled to Turkiye late in 2012 and early 2013.  Everyone was in Turkiye in 2013.  Home was bombed and destroyed.

Refugees in Gaziantep

2012 to 2016

Working odd jobs for cash to live.

Phase One
Adeel and his family

2016

Accepted as refugees to Canada through United Nations.  Arrive in September 2016.

Phase two
Fahad, Javed, Bilal

20122

Three brothers and families are reunited with Adeel in April 2022 as refugees in Canada.  Now planning Phase Three to sponsor remaining family members to the Hamilton-Burlington-Niagara area.

Earthquake in Gaziantep

2023

Living quarters destroyed and 13 family members are homeless again.  Living in own tents with little or no assistance - because they are not Turkish and they are Syrian refugees.  Decision made to expedite Phase Three and move to a 'Survival' mode for the family members still in Turkiye.

Phase three
Eight adults and
five children at risk

2023

We need $150,000 to sponsor 13 people for one year.  Will you help us?
